Caught Shoplifting at Shoprite
My question involves criminal law for the state of: New Jersey
me and my friend were caught shoplifting, we gave the store security our address and phone numbers. The thing is we are both minors and we didn't contact our parents to come pick us up. The police were called they also took down our information. We stole together $3.75 worth of candy. They let us go and told us to tell our parents to call the police station. What should we do?
Re: Caught Shoplifting at Shoprite
Tell your parents to call the police station. For that amount, odds are good that the store isn't pressing charges so the police may just want to make sure your parents know about it...then they can take care of your punishment. Oh yeah, start saving your allowance to pay any civil demand you receive.
