First Offense, Drug Paraphernalia and Tobacco Product

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Texas
Hello, i am 17 years old, and has never been in trouble by the law until earlier this week.
i was in a park parking lot with a friend, when a park policeman pulled up in his car behind, got out and asked what we were doing and such. he then asks if we were smoking marijuana because he apparently smelt something (i highly doubt it) then he made us get out, cuffed us, then searched through everything in my car.
he ended up finding my bong, 2 pieces to it, my friends pipe, 1 cigarette, and bits and pieces of weed and seeds.
he ended up giving me a drug paraphernalia, and tobacco product ticket, costing $500 each.
like i said before i have never been in trouble by the law nor do i know much about it. my question is what is the worst, or what may happen to me? and will this effect my future? (college, jobs)

Yep, they're class C misdemeanors, no jail, $500 fine. It still however will give you a criminal record. The drug conviction may screw your financial aid, etc..

Is there any way that I can get this off my records? Am I looking to get probation as well?

Talk to a local lawyer about the possibility of getting a deferred sentence, and seek expungement after the completion of the deferral.

okay, so i happened to not go with the lawyer, my parents think that it would be expensive. so we are just going in our selves. my court date is finally this week, and i was wondering what i can expect now, since im not getting a lawyer. and if they would do a drug test on me.

It will probably either be delayed and new court date scheduled or some type of plea deal will be offered.

And why would you worry about a drug test?

thanks. believe it or not, it helps me out for my everyday life. i have back pains, and a minor case of a.d.d.

And you are also a doctor that can prescribe drugs? If not, let's just leave that out of the conversation, okay?

Let me put it another way... if your parents didn't know you were self prescribing drugs, don't try to float it as a reason here.
