Am I Eligible to Be Emancipated
My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: lycoming county, pennsylvainia.

I'm 16 years old and I would be so much happier if i could be emancipated. I havent been happy for years because living with my mom. I mentioned emancipation to her and she didnt really seem to care(probably because she doesnt think it'll happen). We're always clashing. But she makes me have anxiety, chest pains, headaches and I've been self destructive because of her aswell. Which affects my school work. I also get headaches because shes not really willing to pay for glasses which are very needed for me. She said that i should get a job to pay for them. That all she has to do is give me food and water and a roof over my head. But this is very necessary. I feel like this could be very life-changing for me for the better. It can improve my life greatly. I'm a good student and very mature. I feel like if i was given the chance to be on my own i could definitely support myself. I just want to start my life and not be held back by her.

Pennsylvania does not have a statute addressing emancipation; any petition would need to be done on a county level.

However, unless you're able to prove that you're supporting yourself completely - paying your own rent, utilities, food, medical care, etc., - you have no chance of becoming emancipated.

You have even less chance because of your anxiety and self-destructive behavior.

Do i have to be supporting myself at the time that i try for emancipation? Because i can get a job. It's just that it's likely tht I might move to another state. So it's kind of pointless.

Honestly, you have virtually no chance of being emancipated.

And you cannot move anywhere without permission from your parent/s.

Can you get a job that pays enough for you to support yourself fully?

Pay your own rent and EVERYTHING, while staying in school and keeping good grades?

You don't seem to understand this.

Judges (and there will be one... think of it as an old guy in a dress that wants to find ANY reason to tell you no) don't give a darn what you promise.

    Only what you do.

You have done nothing to support yourself but are sure you can.

    That doesn't mean squat.

Get a job... making over 1500 a month. Find an apartment, draw up a business plan that shows how you will pay for food, insurance, transportation, clothes, etc.

if the answers to ANY of those needs is "I will go to the state" you lose.
If the answers to ANY of those needs is "someone else will take care of that" you lose.

If you are saying to yourself that you would have to be a rock star to be emancipated, you got it in one....

Because you also need to prove to a judge a NEED to be emancipated... and you don't need to be emancipated.

You have a roof over your head and food in your belly. You don't need to be emancipated.
