Traded Vehicles Title for Title, But My Vehicle Was Not Titled in My Name
My question involves vehicle registration or title in the state of: TExas I live in tx. I traded a vehicle via craigslist. We traded title for title with a bill of sale stating that the trade was final. The new owner of the vehicle drove the car through heavy flooded streets and is now saying I traded them a junk car after the cold air intake sucked up water. The vehicle no longer runs what do I have to do they don't want to get a title transfer either. Could they try and take me to court over me trading them a car not titled in my name? If so could I counter them by sueing them for damages to my previous vehicle.

It was my car that I bought just did not title it it my name
Re: Traded Vehicles Title for Title My Vehicle Was Not Titled in My Name
You can't convey title of a vehicle unless you're the title owner. You gave them mere possession of a vehicle that, in the eyes of the law, belongs to the person who is named on the title. If you don't fix that, they have every right to sue you for money damages or to rescind the transaction based upon the fact that you conveyed nothing to them in return for the car you received.

then you broke the law. You are not allowed to sell a vehicle that has not been titled in your name. That is reserved for dealers.
The guy has a valid claim to rescind the sale due to you did not have legal title to the vehicle.
