Collections and judgement
I have a question. I had approx 1800 in old medical bills turned over to collection. I was unable to pay them, and the collections turned to an attorney......I was sued. A judgement was entered against me, and I filed a michigan form MC15 with the court to request installment payments, as I am now able to make a monthly payment.
I received a letter yesterday from the lawyer, and it stated that they filed an objection to the installment payment amount that I had requested.
Now what do/should I do? I had requested a $120 montly payment, they indicated they would agree to a $300 monthly payment, based on my financial info that I submitted.
I cannot let this thing go to garnishment.....it would kill me professionally.
What is the next step? Is it common for the plaintiffs to object to the installment plan requests?
thanks
Installment Payments on Judgment
Presumably the matter has been scheduled for hearing, and an appropriate amount will be determined by the judge.
