Unearned Car Insurance Premium Refund Refused
My question involves insurance law for the state of: Guam
My car was sold after I left Guam and I sent a fax to canx the policy. I have the machine receipt showing it received. I expected it to take a while as the mails are very slow and then I misplaced the papers. When no refund was received,I failed to follow up. I finally called 13 months later. They said I should have called to confirm receipt of fax and it is too late now to change anything. The car WAS sold and the balance of premium UNEARNED. Is there any way for me to get my refund?
Re: Unearned Car Insurance Premium Refund Refused
If the policy wasn't properly canceled, it wasn't properly canceled. A fax receipt shows you faxed something, but doesn't show what you faxed. By the terms of the policy, what was the method dictated for canceling the policy? How did you find the fax number and how did you determine that it would be an appropriate number to use for the notice of cancellation?
