Can I Be Evicted Over Unpaid Utility Bills
I live in texas; and today i got an eviction notice. I owe 80 and told them that i would pay on the 1st they said it was fine but now it says i have 3 days to pay or to move out on the 4th day. we were home and they didnt knock on the door and it says it was given to us yesterday. they left it on the door outside on the clamp next to the doorway. even though it says it was given to us or taped inside the door. on my lease it says that you cant get charged late fees for less than 100 but i didnt think that they could evict us for it? it says that its not even for rent it says that its for utilities.

also it says that if i do pay the 80 then we will make a "mutually agreeable increase in your security deposit" we have been here for 2 years

can they make us put more down for security deposit?
can i be evicted for it?

I can't read your lease from here, so I can't see how the utilities are characterized in your lease. If you owe rent, even a penny of rent, and don't pay on time, your landlord can commence eviction proceedings.

The same thing goes for an increase in your security deposit - read your lease and find out what it says.
