Can We Get Married or Am I a Criminal
My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: florida

in florida is there any way to marry a 16 and 18 yr old with/without concent? what difference would pregnacy make? is there a way of emancipation or marriage from a single parents concent?

i don't understand how an 18 year old could go to jail or prison for sex with a minor if they've been together before one was an adult (its as if because of law i can't be with the one i love for 2 years, or else, i dont want to end a 3 yr relationship for two years because nothing has changed but the day), as well when the law states:

    (2) The county court judge of any county in the state may, in the exercise of his or her discretion, issue a license to marry to any male or female under the age of 18 years, upon application of both parties sworn under oath that they are the parents of a child.

    (3) When the fact of pregnancy is verified by the written statement of a licensed physician, the county court judge of any county in the state may, in his or her discretion, issue a license to marry:

    (a) To any male or female under the age of 18 years upon application of both parties sworn under oath that they are the expectant parents of a child; or

    (b) To any female under the age of 18 years and male over the age of 18 years upon the female's application sworn under oath that she is an expectant parent.

    (4) No license to marry shall be granted to any person under the age of 16 years, with or without the consent of the parents, except as provided in subsections (2) and (3).

    thank you for your time

PLEASE tell me you're not going to get pregnant just so you can get married and be legally emancipated.

Are you saying that you've been in a relationship with this person since you were 13?

im the 18 yr old, not nessisarily, i wouldn't do anything she would never do, im asking because im not possitive that she isn't at the momment as well. its very complicated, her family likes me one month, then they hate me and try to split us up, then they like me again. now im not living so close and she wants to cum stay with me but her mom doesnt like tht idea. once she gets in school i wont be able to see her but a few holidays and half the time she sees all her family then. her mom says she'll never speak to her or see her again if she goes with me, that shed gimmie all her papers. but then again her mom says she'll send me and herself to jail.

im not tryin to mess my life up i want to start it...and id prefer not to loose the one i was first with.

    You care for this girl?

Then leave her alone until she's legally allowed to move out and in with you.

    Don't ruin your lives.

Do the right thing. I'm assuming that you think of yourself as a mature 18 year old, right? Then you should be mature and responsible enough to realize that getting pregnant and marrying at 16 is NOT the right thing to do.

my mom happened to get married at 16 thank ya.
and yes i do care for her, thats why i won't allow things to split us. i don't think its the right thing to leave someone in a miserable life. and i don't think is right to leave someone crying and wanting to beable to do something.

i asked a question and you arn't giving me an answer, you are telling me how to live my life. i've already been raised, i don't need a parenting, i need to know how this law operates

You're showing that you're nowhere near mature enough to be married, let alone raise a child.

No court in the land will emancipate a pregnant teenager although if you do marry while she's pregnant then of course she'll be legally emancipated.

As for anything else - maybe someone else will answer. You obviously don't actually want help - you're looking for someone to tell you how to get an immature 16 year old out of the house without her parents consent and are willing to impregnate her and marry her in order to do so.

Sorry - I ain't getting on board that train.

Keep having sex with underage girls and you will. Oh, and a lawyer too.

As it works most everywhere, you will require her parents' (or parent's depending on the situation) consent to get married.

Let me help you out a bit though: what happened was you hit a magic number on your birthday. So, one day shagging your girlfriend was a-ok (I guess), or at least legal, and the next day it wasn't. (I don't know the age of consent laws in your state). That's all that happened.

So, let's review: sex on Thursday was fine. Sex on Friday was a crime. In the intervening two years, provided you don't wind up in jail for something or another, you could work on building a nice financial buffer (or even just get an education) to provide for her and you the life you'd like to.

    Oh my...

"Sex on Thursday? That was fine. Sex on Friday? That's a crime!"

I'm speechless. That spells it out quite clearly and is wonderful to boot! :)
