Involuntary Manslaughter North Carolina
My sis in law and her 5 children were in a horrible wreck this past Friday 8/6. She looked down for a moment and went off the road a little bit and overcorrected which caused her suburban to lose control and fliped. Her 6 yr old daughter was killed from the roof crushing down on her. My sis in law tried to do cpr until the ems got there as she is certified in doing so, but little Bre died in her arms. She has been totally devasted. Wednesday the 10th was the child's funeral. She was arrested today, 8/11, for involuntary manslaughter. She has had absolutely no priors. How long would she get in a matter such as this. She tried so hard to save her baby. Thank you.
Re: Involuntary Manslaughter North Carolina
This is a horrible and tragic event for all involved, I am sure.
The NC statues are a little confusing to read, but absent some aggravating circumstances it appears that the low end term could be about 13 months and the high end about 16 months. However, that is based on my lay reading of the NC statutes. Her attorney should know what her potential penalty might be based upon the circumstances.
