Is it Fraud to Revoke a Transaction and Keep the Payment
    I live in New York.

Recently I had tried to sell my World of Warcraft account through ebay. A man with a quite foreign-sounding name responded and gave me the money for the account through paypal. However, by this time, ebay had closed and deleted the auction as it was in violation of their policies.

I then gave the account info to the buyer through an email. Before I could access the funds, he issued a chargeback. I disputed this chargeback and approximately 4 months after all of this, the funds were actually returned to my account. I then called Blizzard and reclaimed my account.

Could what I have done be fraudulent? The person tried to steal the account from me, and frankly I have no idea how I actually got the funds back as I have heard paypal isn't very friendly to sellers about this. It seems like there isn't really much evidence of a deal that occurred, is this true?

Obviously I'm trying to be optimistic about the situation, but could someone tell me where they think I stand right now?

You got paid for something and didn't deliver.

    What would YOU call it?

    Were his actions fraud?

His attempt to chargeback the money after receiving the account information was not fraud?

Perhaps, but that doesn't matter. You received the money.

Are you saying that you should be able to keep the money and the account because he tried to cheat you first?

Some sort of a self inflicted penalty?

    Doesn't work that way.

If I offer the buyer a complete refund will I be okay?
