Re: Child Support/Custody
You've left out a lot of information.
First - under MN law, child support will end either when the child turns 18 or turns 20 if she goes on to any secondary school. You got a girl pregnant and she had your kid - child support is now a way of life for you. It won't stop until the child ages out.
Second - Support is only retroactive to the date of filing so no - she's not getting support dating back to when the child was born unless she filed back then.
Third - Has your child received any state assistance? If so, that's why your ex isn't getting the money.
Fourth - How on earth did having to pay child support force you to quit your job?
Finally - if you want more time with your kid, go to court and file for visitation rights.

I'm looking for whatever I can do to get the proper time with my daughter and child support stopped completely.
"Whatever" You can do.
Marry the mother or get custody of your daughter.
Re: Child Support/Custody
I'm completely baffled as to why, OP, you think you can get child support stopped at all?

He wanted a way to stop it, filing for visitation won't stop it, will it?
Re: Child Support/Custody
Neither would getting custody or marrying Mom, necessarily....
;)
Re: Child Support/Custody
He would file for visitation in order to get time with his daughter. Separate issue from child support. I think thats what Dog was referring to.
PS: Dang you're fast Dog!

True. But I figure its his best chances of getting both visitation/no payments. :-)

You're right - that's what I was getting at. ;)
Though it's still true that having primary custody - or being married to the other parent - does not necessarily mean no child support
..as we've seen over and over :D
