What Happens After I File for Divorce
This is in Michigan.
I filed for divorce and gave the papers to my husband. After about two weeks of not hearing anything, I asked him if he had signed them. He said he signed them and gave them to his attorney.
My question is this: What is the next step and what happens in this step?
Thank you in advance.
Re: What Happens After I File for divorce
Either he files an answer and possibly a counter-complaint to the divorce, or he does not. If he does not answer in a timely manner, you may move for a default. Note that in a divorce case a default won't keep him from arguing the equities of the division of the estate, or prevent him from participating in hearings pertaining to custody or child support (if you have kids).

I would like to ask something about this too, same state, Michigan...
Lets say she filed, gave him the papers and he did not want the divorce and felt they should try to work it out because a 6 month old baby is involved.
Also, the husband asked his wife to seek consoling with him before it ever got this far for the sake of the marriage and the child but the wife flat out refused at every step.
