Online Sexual Solicitation
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Kansas.
Recently a friend was engaged in contact with a 15 year old girl via chat. He is 24.
He kept it clean with the exception of a described make out scene online but had nothing overtly sexual (no nudity, penetration, simulated sex, actual sex, etc).
He had a webcam with the girl, but again clean. She took off her shirt but was wearing a bra.
He realized this was wrong and cut off all contact with her. She was on his facebook but he blocked her.
He's kind of a slow guy, and I'm really worried something could happen to him. He gave her his name, and she saw what he looked like. Does this sound like the police? Should I be worried or am I overreacting?
Re: Online Sexual Solicitation
i believe you are overreacting. If there was no nudity and no solicitation, I believe he is ok. I would suggest writing down everything your friend can remember about the conversation and if it is saved, even print it out to support his version.
Re: Online Sexual Solicitation
Generally speaking, the police do not go so far as to engage in video chats and take off articles of clothing. Most of the police are male officers posing as young females, they can't and wouldn't do a video chat.
Your "friend" was wise to break it off and should never do anything like that again.
Unless the minor comes to the attention of the police for some other reason and then starts dropping names and such, I doubt this will go anywhere.
Re: Online Sexual Solicitation
If it was suggestive in flirting, but without asking for anything sexual, a meeting, or anything of that nature, it shouldn't be a problem? I saw a record of it, and they were both flirting. It didn't seem particularly one sided; if anything, the girl seemed more interested in him and alluded to things. He broke off contact.
No authorities are involved, and unless she was some sort of undercover agent I don't imagine they will. I'd just like to be able reassure him; he's messed up in the head from Iraq.

As long as what you stated is true, then he has nothing to worry about. Let him know to stay away from online chats involving teens. Wouldnt want to end up like those guy on "To catch a predator" your life is ruined then. So yeah let him kno <18 bad, >18 good.
