Lodger Extortion After Foreclosure in California
My question involves a roommate in the State of: California
We have a short-term, month to month lodger and house was foreclosed on. Lodger is demanding 'keys for cash' and 90 days free rent. Lodger has changed the locks and refuses us access to property. Police were called. Polce said we needed Restraining Order from court.
HELLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: Lodger Extortion After Foreclosure in California
Explain that better. You formerly owned the home, there was a foreclosure, and now somebody else owns it but you're nonetheless trying to get your lodger out? Or your purchased a home at a foreclosure sale with a lodger present, and he won't leave? Or is it something else?
Re: Lodger Extortion After Foreclosure in California
Thanks for responding:
1. We purchased home in 1994
2. Took in lodger (with 'House Rules" and 30 day notice clause)
3. Trustees sale took place (Note:Bank had virtually guaranteed loan mod)
4. Lodger demanding $1,500 cash plus 90 days free plus hotel accom.
5. Our Keys for Cash Agreement with new owner says Lodger must be out by Aug. 2nd. Lodger says she is not moving without CASH>
6. Lodger CHANGED LOCKS and police were called. Police said we had to get a 'Restraining Order' from court to get key.

This slipped under my radar. Did the lodger leave?
