Company Won't Transfer Me to Another Region
My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: Florida
My partner was transferred for her job from Indiana to Florida January 2010. I have requested a transfer with my company and have applied within my company since March 2nd for three positions in Florida, the last position being the position I currently have. I have requested in writing reasons why I was not hired for the positions but have received no answers. I was told of not being hired for the 2nd position applied for by the company recruiter for Florida as I ate dinner with my peers (he happened to be dining nearby). He then proceeded to suggest I check out employment elsewhere.
I have been with my company for three years and was actually transferred from Oregon to Indiana without applying for any positions, they simply transferred me in the current position directly to Indiana.
I have always received excellent performance reviews (exceeds expectations), had recommendations from top management in my region as well as from clients and just received another regional award on Monday.
My managers here in Indiana have told me they will continue to back me up for a transfer, however, it does not appear that I will transfer anytime soon.
I am concerned that I am being discriminated by the Florida region as I am a 51 year old gay woman.
I am not sure how to proceed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Re: Company Won't Transfer Me to Another Region
well, they do not have to transfer you unless they want to. You have said nothing that would lead me to believe they are discriminating against you. If you have some proof, file an EEOC claim.
Re: Company Won't Transfer Me to Another Region
Where is your evidence that you are being refused a transfer BECAUSE you are 51 or a woman? (Sexual orientation is not protected by Federal law and though I am not where I can look it up at the moment, I don't believe it's protected by Florida law either.)
You are not entitled to a transfer just because you ask for one.
