How about reading the stickies at the top of the page...:wallbang:
Re: Can I Get Emancipated
And further...boyfriend's career might be completely and utterly sunk.
No pun intended.
Re: Can I Get Emancipated
I have to agree with you Dog. As I've asked many times before, what is the appeal of a young girl to an adult male (ok, folks, besides the obvious answer that they are much easier to manipulate). If the young man in question likes his career, he'll wait until 'gf' is of legal age.
Re: Can I Get Emancipated
Absobloominglutely.
OP needs to understand something Very Important if she genuinely cares for this young man.
The military does not need proof of wrongdoing in this situation; they have the power to boot him out regardless of whether or not there has been any inappropriate conduct.
Mamabear, to answer your question...well, in all honesty a 16 year old can act and behave far older than their physical age. As you know 16 is legal in the UK and the relationship wouldn't even raise an eyebrow.
However, we're not in the UK...so it's hands off until girly girl is of legal age, as you so rightly said :)

With age comes experience and wisdom. Life was never meant to be 'perfect' and only with struggle and strife comes the meaning of happiness. You can never appreciate the sunshine if you don't experience the rain. Guess I'm just old... (uh, one of my kids told me last night that I was so old that I f*rt dust.... nice analogy LOL!)
Re: Can I Get Emancipated
Does your job pay enough so that you, all by yourself without any help from your boyfriend or anyone else, can pay the going market rate for rent, food, utilities, clothing, medical care, transportation, insurance, school fees and supplies, and all the other incidentals of life, while still going to school and getting better than average grades? Can you show the judge a budget along the lines of, "I earn xxx.xx per week, of which xx.xx goes to rent, xx.xx goes to utilities, xx.xx goes t to food, etc. etc."? Can you show the judge what you will do and how you will care for YOURSELF (NOT, someone else, including the state, paying your bills) if you lose your job? Can you show him how you will earn enough money to pay all these expenses while still having enough time to keep up your studies? Do you have a proven history of supporting yourself?
If the answer to any of these questions is no, then no, you cannot be emancipated.

OMG..... You about choked me with this one!!! Every night, as I tuck the kids in bed (one 15, 9, 6 and 3) I give them 'fairy dust and kisses'! I'm not telling them this, they will prolly wrinkle their noses LOLOLOLOL (So much for spousal privilege.... hubby gave me up to the 14 yo..... then reminded me that there was a REASON that I married him.... ) :)
Re: Can I Get Emancipated
Thank you all for your responses, they were really helpful. And to answer the question, no sexual conduct was going on, my boyfriend and I talked this over and we decided it was best we wait untill I come of age. I don't think I'm going to worry with the emancipation and just try to talk with my family more. :)
