Whatever.
id say that about sums up your legal contribution to my legal question on this expert law site.
Re: Possible Return Fraud
Whatever benefits you might get from this would be minor, so it seems a pretty pathetic exercise, especially considering the time and effort involved.
Although you can't get arrested, all major stores take part in a national database of return information and they can quickly spot an pattern like yours and they can refuse to accept returns or make it much more difficult for you.

Lol. Says the person who lives by the philosophy of a 2-10 year-old - expectations of reward or avoidance of punishment guide you into doing or not doing something. The concept of right and wrong which kids 10 years of age and older start to understand is clearly missing in this case, judging from the comments you made.
I clearly stated that I am not a legal expert (but I have dealt with many cases of shoplifting). And neither are about 80% of responders on this site, in case you missed. But anyways, good luck with your little scheme.

Well, now that you have "established" (duh, no, you didn't; it's more like you got the response that you liked) that you "cannot" be legally prosecuted for this, maybe now it is time to think about moral aspects of it. Is this the kind of person/parent you want to be? ... Because, yeah, in their eyes you are stealing because as a result of your actions the store is LOSING money.
Whether it has been "established" by this thread or not, the fact remains that the OP is not stealing by any legal definition. Expertlaw.com is not in the business of making moral judgments, so those aspects are hardly relevant here.
And stores lose virtually nothing over reward programs; the benefits they offer are probably about as valuable as the coupons they hand out to every dissatisfied customer. Their loss is negligible, even assuming they don't cancel reward points after a return.

Arrested for stealing? Not likely, since nothing described in the OP involves stealing.
Are you sure about that?

Quoting Nebraska Statutes, 28-512. Theft by deception.
A person commits theft if he obtains property of another by deception. A person deceives if he intentionally:
(1) Creates or reinforces a false impression, including false impressions as to law, value, intention, or other state of mind; but deception as to a person's intention to perform a promise shall not be inferred from the fact alone that he did not subsequently perform the promise; or
(2) Prevents another from acquiring information which would affect his judgment of a transaction; or
(3) Fails to correct a false impression which the deceiver previously created or reinforced, or which the deceiver knows to be influencing another to whom he stands in a fiduciary or confidential relationship; or
(4) Uses a credit card, charge plate, or any other instrument which purports to evidence an undertaking to pay for property or services delivered or rendered to or upon the order of a designated person or bearer (a) where such instrument has been stolen, forged, revoked, or canceled, or where for any other reason its use by the actor is unauthorized, or (b) where the actor does not have the intention and ability to meet all obligations to the issuer arising out of his use of the instrument.
The word deceive does not include falsity as to matters having no pecuniary significance, or statements unlikely to deceive ordinary persons in the group addressed.
