RIF Recall License Issues
Hello,
I am teacher in VA whose license documents for converting provisional to full license while submitted properly to HR were mishandled by internal licensure coordinator... I know the license procedure is very complex and the "mistake" may be occurring at the state end of things but I have resubmitted the same information and my license application is not being corrected or updated. They information is unclear and I can't find anyone that can answer my question for how to present information correctly or what they need at the state or if they reviewed my previous requests and if they did not why they did not accept the course work.
Bottom line --- this resulted in my license lapsing and my contract for the next school year being terminated.
I realize that I have to work with the person who made the mistake to appeal and get the matter straightened out. I intend to continue to work with her in a patient and calm fashion. However the job availabilities are dwindling as the school year gets closer.
Furthermore, the HR staff is not making any assurances to IF or HOW I can be considered for other positions once the license gets straightened out. In fact they are asking me to start a NEW job application if I am interested in any positions stating I cant get a contract until the license gets straighted out!
Is there any legal recourse, as the impact to my family is significant as the sole parent for two minors. Thanks.
Re: RIF Recall License Issues
You really need to consult a lawyer who specializes in licensure issues. It's a narrow field.
Any chance your union can help?
