How to Begin the Emancipation Process in Florida
My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: Florida

A friend of mine passed away on March 22 of this year. She has a 17 yr old daughter. Her daughter is 6 months pregnant and living with her boyfriend. Her father is willing to sign emancipation papers because he lives outside of this country. He will also continue to pay his child support until his daughter turns eighteen in Dec. How do I help begin the emancipation process in Florida? Is emancipation necessary or the right thing to do given the situation?

You have no legal standing to do anything unless you are her legal guardian, appointed as such by the court.

Under FL law, ONLY the parent or legal guardian can petition for emancipation of a minor.

However, the chances that a 6-months pregnant minor who cannot support herself without help will be emancipated are less than zero.

She should probably have a legal guardian in the United States. Like the boyfriends parents, you (however you are connected with this situation), aunt, uncle... etc.
I think that dad will have to consent to this.
