Possession of Marijuana and Paraphernalia, First Offense, in Maryland
Last night I got pulled over for speeding and consented to a search of the vehicle, completely forgetting that I had left my bowl and a small amount of marijuana (arguably under a gram - less than a bowlpack with a few stems) in my purse. :wallbang:
I am 22 years old and a recent college graduate, it is my first offense on a completely spotless record. I graduated with a 3.8 and have recently relocated from a state where marijuana is decriminalized. I was wondering if there is a good chance of my securing of probation before judgment in lieu of a criminal conviction?
Please do not respond to this with a description of the maximum state penalties - I am aware that first offense is punishable with up to $1500 or 1 yr in jail, this is not what I am asking.
Thanks!!

Unfortunately, we can't tell you anything more than that. We haven't been in possession of a fully functional crystal ball since Miss Cleo got arrested and failed to have ours sent back before she was incarcerated.
IOW, no one here can predict what the judge is likely to do. You'd do well to consult with a local attorney, who can help you sort out what plea agreement options might be available to you.

Thank you for your response; is a public defender a good option for someone short on funds?
