Spouse Won't Sign the Consent Judgment of Divorce
My question involves divorce in the State of: Michigan

How can I make sure my divorce goes through at our next court date if my spouse won't sign the Consent Judgment of Divorce?

I've been doing the divorce papers on my own without a lawyer & when we went to court in May we discovered we needed a Consent Judgment of Divorce, she signed some paper while we were there & this was supposed to be the only thing standing in the way of finalizing it. When we went back to court in June with the Consent Judgment of Divorce papers (she was given a copy in advance), my spouse didn't want to sign. There is nothing in the papers to either parties disadvantage. We have no children, no property or asset disputes, etc. It should be a simple divorce. She is drawing this out to try to keep my healthcare coverage as long as possible. We were only married for one year. Is there anything I can do to make sure it goes through when we return this month if she refuses sign again?

If your spouse won't sign a consent judgment, your normal alternative is to proceed to trial. If she has not properly appeared and defended, you may be able to seek a default judgment.
