Re: Emancipation in Georgia
Not a chance.
Sorry, but you would need to prove to the court that you are already self-supporting. Say, for at least 6 months.
Re: Emancipation in Georgia
Aw, too bad. Guess I'll have to either convince them or stick it out for two more years.
Thanks.
Re: Emancipation in Georgia
The chances that a judge will grant emancipation so that a minor can accept a job that will require him or her to drop out of school, are slightly less than the chance that you will be hit by lightning and win the lottery on the same day.
Re: Emancipation in Georgia
What if I take the job (with my parents' permission, of couse)? I will be living in a state other than my parents and earning around $600 a week. My rent and bills will be paid for. Please note that I have excellent grades (straight A's) and will be working for a reputable worldwide corporation. I fully plan on getting my GED and going to college, but I can't pass up an opportunity like this.
Will a judge grant me emancipation after working for a few months?
Re: Emancipation in Georgia
If you have your parents' permission to take the job, you don't NEED emancipation. But no, you still won't qualify for emancipation under your state's current laws even if you have permission.
