    Minor Sex Offender in Iowa
When my husband was fifteen he had a girlfriend (aged 17) and was convicted of sexual assalt in the third degree because her mother did not approve of them dating and filed rape charges even though they had never had sex. My husband was advised by his father to plead guilty instead of facing possible years incarcerated and probation. He has since been a wonderful husband and father and has never reoffended. I was wondering if there is anyway we can remove his name from the registry as it has been nothing but a nightmare for our family and he is obviously not a sexual predator. The harassment and lack of housing and employment is hitting us extremely hard. Currently he is serving a five year prison sentence for failing to register when he was homeless for a few months due to the harsh residential laws. The mental strain on not only him but myself and our child from the entire situation is crippling. Can anyone offer any advice?

Possibly. See for example Iowa Code, Sections 232.54 and 692A.103. He should consult a lawyer to have his case reviewed for the applicability of any statutes that might offer relief.
