How Long After an Underage Sexual Assault May Charges Be Filed
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Florida
I'm 23 years old, and between the ages of 12-16, I was assaulted and sexually abused by a trusted member of our extended family. I stayed with him for several short periods of time (1-3 months) during that time, and he was my "guardian" for those times. I'm wondering what I should/could do at this point, as this happened as recently as 2003, but as long ago as the late 1990's.
I've read up on the Florida statutes regarding sexual assault, and learned that there's no actual statute of limitations on this crime when committed on a minor, if I'm reading it right.
So, my question is, what now?

If you wish to see if a prosecutor will initiate criminal proceedings, you may go to the police and make a report of what happened.

^^ Correct, sorry that you had to go through that. Hope he gets convicted.
