Is There a Holding Period For Your Second Year of Unemployment Benefits
    In California.

When you file for unemployment in california the 1st week is a holding period. That is eventhough you qualify you do not get paid.

But in california you calim is only good for 52 weeks. For those who are still unemployed at the end of the 52 weeks may file for a new claim (there is income/work requirements you need to make during the last 52 weeks).

So my questions if you file for new claim. Is there still a 1st week holding period.

Does anyone know this for sure or experience this??

    thanks

There are no additional waiting periods - in addition you do not file for a new claim. Your original claim will receive a federal extension.

I heard from EDD califronia today. There is no additional waiting period they said since I am off a fed extension. But I do have to file for a new claim. Because if I am eliagible for a new claim my former employer pay for it. And it is a benefit because a new claim would mean I have another 26 weeks of benefits plus extensions later. This is as if I just got employed.
