Time Restrictions for Filing Rape Charges
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Florida.
I was raped by my step father when I was 12 years old. Instead of my mother going after him because she was afraid I would have gotten taken away, she just divorced him and moved far away. I was physically, mentally, and sexually abused by this man for several years and couldn't do anything about it for so long. I am 29 now and the memories are coming back strong. Can I press charges against him still? I know he is doing the same to other little kids because he was a very sick man. Please respond... it would be appreciated
Re: Time Restrictions for Rape
Hon, unless you have proof - such as medical reports and police reports, there's not much chance of you being able to successfully have this man prosecuted even if the SOL hadn't run out.
I hope you're in therapy to help you deal with what happened.
