General rule is: If you have to ask, don't do it.
This is what I have found: "In Florida, an individual must be 18 or older to consent to sex with a person who is 18 or older."
I read your question wrong...correct answer is below. The above statement is still correct.
I just noticed that and tried to edit...
CORRECT RESPONSE:
The age of consent is 18.
If you have sex with him...YOU face charges of STATUTORY RAPE. Prison. The rest of your life on the SEX OFFENDER REGISTRY.
His parents, if you have sex and they have knowledge, also face charges of ACCESSORY TO RAPE. Prison. Sex offender registry.
Best to wait til he is 18.
Now we have not had any sexual activites.
Could i still get in trouble?
Im just very concerned!
thanks everyone for your help!

If you didn't do anything wrong, how are you going to get into trouble???
Just do not have sex, do not have any sexual contact (not even 1st base) and you will be fine.
we have already kissed in public!
He got in trouble with the law & i feel like if they find out how old i am they might take action on me! i know i have not done anything wrong but im pretty sure if they ask if we had sex & i say no there not going to believe me cause in most cases ppl do lie & how would i be able to prove i havent?
I hope you all do not mind all my questions i just have alot,
I truly appreciate you all for taking time out of your life to help me out!
THANKS
For the love of God, if you're that worried about it, then the answer is obvious.
Find someone your own age and stop hanging around with children.
Seriously.
The fact that a 20 year old is finding congenial companionship with a 16 year old does not speak well of you or your level of maturity. Do not bother coming back to tell me how much more mature than most 16 year olds he is. I will not believe you.
I'm more concerned with the maturity of the 20 year old.
Common sense dictates that if you THINK you MIGHT catch hell for something, YOU DON'T DO IT.
It was the 20 year old I was talking to, anticipating her response.
Proving that something did NOT happen is virtually impossible. Fortunately for you the burden of proof is on the state to prove that an alleged crime took place.
Should your relationship with the young man take a physical turn, you might at some point have some 'splainin' to do.
Wow it never ceases to amaze me that people who have absolutely NO IDEA about actual laws post responses to questions. No one who has posted on this thread so far has given anything but false explanations or opinions. Ok PYT here is the REAL answer to your question; take it from someone who actually knows what he is talking about.
The legal age of consent is 18 in FL
BUT
If someone is 16 or 17 they are allowed to have sexual relationships with anyone 23 or younger. So to put it simply the age of consent is 16/17 IF the other person is 23 or younger.
So no you won’t get into any trouble. As far as kissing or touching there is no legal law in FL that has a age restriction on this.
It seriously makes me sick when people try to pretend they know what they are talking about when they have absolutely no clue as to actual statutes.
And it makes me sick when people who have no clue as to the real question set themselves up as experts.
The real answer is as the regular posters stated The fact that the state of Florida will not call it statutory rape does not mean that there is no legal action that can be taken. The state does not remove the parents' right to parent their child. The state does not give a 16 year old child the right to blow off their parents' commands.
The question was not, can we have sex without it being called statutory rape. The question was, can his parents prevent us being together. And the answer to that is UNQUESTIONABLY yes, they can.
Really that was her question? Thank you for that post CBG. Its posts like this that motivated me to sign up for this site so people can get REAL answers. Did you even read what she posted?
She CLEARLY stated that the 16 year olds parents are okay with the relationship. So what are you talking about? Furthermore, she asked if she can get into any trouble and if the state considers her actions a crime regardless of what the parents think. And I answered her question with the applicable statue.
Please do yourself a favor and stop posting on these threads. You aren’t doing anybody asking questions a favor, your only misinforming them. And you’re making yourself look like a fool to those that do know what they are talking about.
Please do yourself a favor and stop making yourself look like an idiot. If you honestly believe that the parents are "okay" with it just because she says so, when she has a vested interest in believing it, you're not just naive, you're stupid.
Wow are opinions are all you have? No real facts, no logical arguments, just plain old opinions.
Let’s look at the FACTS. You claimed I had no idea what I was talking about because I didn’t know what her question was. I clearly showed that YOU had no idea what her question was. Because you obviously do not have the mental aptitude to comprehend a few simple statements she wrote. Hence I called you a fool. The definition for a fool by the way is "One who is deficient in judgment, sense, or understanding;" Which I obviously proved that you are. All my points were valid, logical and BASED ON FACTS NOT OPINIONS.
And then you completely ignore the fact that your response to me was absolutely ridiculous and your comeback is (in simple words) "oh I think I can read the boy’s parents mind and know they are not okay with it and I can read the girls mind and know she’s lying. Oh!! and I can read your mind so I know that you think that his parents are not okay with it" So you’re a mind reader now?
Do you realize just how ridiculous you sound to anyone who has half a brain? You do realize that your opinions have absolutely no merit. The fact that you fail to understand these facts makes you the only one that is naive and stupid.
I NEVER said I believed that his parents were okay with it. I merely answered her question. And I will simplify her questions for you so you can understand. She asked me "Can I get into trouble for what I did? And she asked can she get into any trouble with the state if they boys parents are okay with it.
So therefore, it’s IRRELEVENT whether the parents were okay with it or not. I simply stated that if what she was saying is true then she cannot get into trouble with the state. Meaning IF she was telling the truth about the boy’s parents being okay with it, they will not take the only recourse they can; which is a restraining order. Again, please do yourself a favor and stop posting. You are just digging a deeper hole.
Wow, seriously? You posted this cr@p, calling out another for no knowledge? I've read some of your other posts, and for a newbie here, you seem rather opinionated and off course. Makes me wonder what draws you to these particular threads (got a young gf?). Might want to tone the 'tude a bit, cause you're not making friends here.
Obviously fallout has a vested interest in telling children and adults it's okay for them to have sex. Makes one wonder what's going on in fallout's bedroom.
When did we become a self help group for teenagers with adult boyfriends and out of control hormones?
