Can Parole Search the Other Tenant's Room
My question involves criminal law for the state of: california
I am on parole in california and i am living with my mom, and a person who rents a room from her. is parole allowed to search their rooms?, i am told by my parole agent if the doors are locked i should be alright, but what if the other tenant is using the bathroom, they should not be required to have theire belongings gone through, they did not sign anything and have nothing to do with me, is this legal, how would i bring this to the attention of my parole officer or police, if they are attempting to do this?
Re: Can Parole Search the Other Tenant's Room
I would suggest that the people you live with not keep any contraband in common areas.
Re: Can Parole Search the Other Tenant's Room
there is not contraband anywhere in the house, the other tenats concern is that her belongings will be gone through and that my situation has nothing to do with her, that it does not seem legal by any means. so aside from common area, can they go in other peoples rooms?
Re: Can Parole Search the Other Tenant's Room
If the other residents are concerned that the items they leave in common areas may be subject to search by your parole officer, they would be best served by keeping those items in their private rooms.
You can't realistically expect your parole officer to ask you who each item belongs to, and forego searching items accessible to you based upon your claim that the item belongs to somebody else.
