I attempted to steal $75 of merchandise, i got caught and was fined $395 , my slip stated it was strictly civil and not court related. i dont think i can get the money because im still a high school student. im 18 and will be graduating in june. i dont know if i can be sued or what the heck im in for, PLEASE HELP!:wallbang:
If you received a civil demand notice, it no doubt instructed you that if you fail to pay you can be sued.
And let's put it this way...if you get sued, it affects your credit rating. Meaning good luck getting that first apartment, credit card, etc. And the store still has the option of pressing criminal charges, which will make it harder to get a job.
