Stopping Calls From My Wife's Bill Collectors
I have good credit, my wife... not so much. She has destroyed hers by making some rather bad choices. She is also unemployed. Her only income is disability and a child support check. Needless to say, we keep our finances separate.
She has several bill collectors and typically gets 15-20 calls per day. She refuses to speak with them. They will not talk to me. I am sick of them calling. How can I get them to stop. I am paying all the utility bills and mortgage. Since they refuse to speak with me, what can I do?

What state are you in?

if you know who they are, have your wife send the a cease and desist demand demanding they refrain from contacting your wife anymore.
Re: Stopping Calls From My Wife's Bill Collectors
I cannot get her to do anything. She thinks if she ignores them, they will just go away. I know it is her responsibility, but anyone that is married knows you have to pick and choose your battles.
I have already changed my phone number once, but the calls started again after about three or four months because she goes out and fills out every credit card application that she can find. They get her number from those.
Can I send them a C&D letter since the phone is in my name?

not and have it mean anything.
I would either not answer or simply hand the phone to your wife. She has the right to stop the ringing but if she refuses, the resulting problem is better dealt with by a marriage counselor.;)
Now, I will say that you can write a letter in your wifes name if she gives you permission and I strongly suggest it contain her signature as proof of her intent.

Agreed, but much easier said than done.
Thank you.
