Michigan Emancipation Law
I'm in the process of filling out my emancipation papers and i was wondering how i was able to show proof of housing when i have never lived away from home. i mean i have left my house in arguements with my guardian and have been away for days, but i have never paid rent or anything. Can i have someone vouch for me saying i paid rent to them for those short periods of time? Is that considered proof of housing? Also what if i pay for my own insurance and gas for my car? Is that a good way to prove my financial affairs? Thanks for your help.
Re: Michigan Emancipation Law
Lying on your petition for emancipation is not a good step toward convincing a court to grant you emancipation. I believe Michigan requires that you be capable of self-support, not that you actually have an independent household, so concentrate on showing your ability.
