    Emancipating From One Parent
My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: new mexico

hello, well I just turned 16 and i'm from deming new mexico. i was wondering if i can emancipate one of my parents. see my father has full custody of me but i cant stand him. he is violent, and i thinkk he is back on drugs. the cops have to come to my house like at least once every month because him and his girlfriend are always fighting and i'm tired of it. i would like to emancipate him and try to go live with my mom or my aunt. could i?

    Nope.

Your Mom can file for custody.

What you want to do is not emancipation.

It is not possible to emancipate from only one parent. You're either self-supporting (a requirement for emancipation) or you're not.

As the all-knowing Doggie says, what you are looking for is a change of custody, not emancipation.
