Is It Really Free?
Yes. The website is supported entirely by Aaron
Larson, a Michigan attorney. There are no fees for listings
or searches, and attorneys contact experts directly. That
is to say, this deal is unbeatable.
How Can This Be Free?
Probably because Aaron
Larson grossly underestimated the time and effort involved
in a project of this magnitude.
In all seriousness, though, this is free because there
is no other way to build a comprehensive directory of experts
on the internet. Mr. Larson, as an attorney, knows how hard
it can be to find a good expert, and wants to create a resource
whereby attorneys can find and select experts conveniently.
By allowing free listings, even low-traffic pages can be
included.
How Do I Register?
There is an "Add your Site" link on every category
page for expert witnesses, services, and private investigators.
After looking through the directory,
and finding the categories and subcategories that describe
your services, follow the "Add Your Site" link
on the directory page where you wish to be listed, and then
follow the simple instructions provided.
Please note that you must have a website to register.
If You Don't Have
A Website |
Free Option #1 |
If you don't know html programming,
create a page in minutes at Findlaw.com. |
Free Option #2 |
If you know html programming, and you
will be creating a relatively simple page, create
a page for free at Grex
(telnet: cyberspace.org).
Your site will have no banner ads. Grex
is a charitable organization - if you use it as a
web host, consider making a donation. |
Paid Alternatives |
You may also utilize a professional
web developer. It is a bit slower to get on the web
this way. If you choose this option, I recommend that
you obtain your own domain name (http://www.YOURNAME.com). |
How Do I Check My Listing?
Run a search for your URL or firm name:
How Do I Update My Listing?
If you want to update your contact information or URL,
use the search box above to check your listing. It will
produce a link to follow to update your information.
To update your categories or subcategories, please re-submit
your site through the "add an expert" link on
the appropriate directory page.
How Can I Help Improve The Directory?
There are several ways you can help:
Keep your information current |
If your website moves, let us know.
If we find that your website becomes inactive, it
will be removed from the directory. Do not assume
that it will be easy for us to find your new site.
It isn't. |
Enter Accurate Information |
Do not list yourself in areas, simply
to generate traffic. Only list yourself as having
expertise in the areas where you are truly qualified
to act as an expert witness. |
Contribute Articles |
By contributing
articles to the directory, you help us improve
the quality of this free resource, while drawing attention
to your own services. |
How Can I Support The Directory?
Link To This Site |
Please add a link to this site from
your website. |
Tell Your Friends To List |
Contrary to popular belief, size really
does matter. The larger this directory is, the more
useful it becomes. A useful directory draws more traffic
-- and increased traffic to the directory will result
in increased traffic to your own website. |
Tell Attorneys About This Site. |
Help make this the first place attorneys
go when they need to find an expert witness. |
What Else Should I know?
If you are serious about marketing on the internet,
it pays to develop a good website. Take a look at your competitors'
sites -- does yours measure up?
Don't assume that, just because you are on the internet,
or just because you are in our directory, that the world
will beat down a path to your door. The internet is huge,
and it takes work to build traffic to your website. Remember,
also, that quantity isn't the only thing that counts --
this site is not likely to produce a huge number of hits
to your website, for example, but it is likely to draw people
who are genuinely interested in retaining your services.
Register your website with the better directories and search
engines - including Findlaw,
Yahoo, AltaVista,
and Google. (Note that
some of these services now charge to review submissions.)
Also, list in DMOZ --
it is easy to get your site included, and its importance
is growing by the day. The data from the DMOZ directory
is now utilized by HotBot,
Google, Netscape,
and AOL. |
