Busted For Shoplifting At Wal-mart

hi dont know if i will get a responce, i couldnt make a new thread, i was to desparate for answers. I was caught trying to steal a game from walmart. i was very cooparative, the people who took me to the back where a security officer and a police officer. I asked them if this was going to affect me in any way or at work, the police officer said no, but all i kept getting told was restitution, and was made to sign a paper explaining it i guess. they fingerprinted me and then told me i was going to recieve a letter in the mail and let me go. Basically what i want help with is, what is going to happen? the officers werre very nice and i to them. I also asked if i was going to have to apear on court, and i was told that i may or may not.

WalMart has a reputation for prosecuting fairly aggressively these days. You should expect a letter in the mail detailing when you're expected to appear in court. Consult an attorney, you may be eligible for a diversion program.

If you cannot afford private counsel, plead Not Guilty at your arraignment, and ask for a Public Defender.
