    Default Abuse by Opposing Counsel

    State: Indiana

The O/C in my divorce/family law case is abusive and intentionally running my legal fees up!

It has been alleged that this person has some kind of 'relationship' with my ex's employer who introduced them. I don't know if it is previous representation, personal friendship, "personal friendship", etc.

On a couple occasions this person showed up with an additional attorney for a 1 - 2 hr hearing. 2 attorneys @ $200-250.00 per hour! I know beyond the shadow of a doubt that my ex cannot afford this! Somehow they are either doing favors, have them on corp. payroll, discounting his fees, or not charging him at all.

This person will intentionally duplicate communications fax/snail mail/ and repeatedly requests the SAME information previously provided.

I consider myself a good client. I don't cause drama, keep meticulous records, respond accordingly & promptly, and basically want the situation to end as amicable & fairly (equal) as possible.

My ex has unresolved anger issues and wants to fight for the sake of the fight & who 'won'. There are no winners when children are in the middle! The final divorce order was 3 yrs ago & I am still knee deep in legal crap and waist deep in legal fees!

My attorney's forte is Family Law and is well known & respected in our legal community/local courthouse. My atty has requested the O/C cease these actions, however they continue the games.

What is my recourse to this O/C running up my fees and harassing me continuously? Can I report them to the bar? Any ideas or suggestions that I might bring to my attorney on her behalf?

    Thanks,
    Z

Is this an off color topic which the community does not wish to address?

Please know that I do not mean to offend anyone but this is a very real situation in my life & huge financial burden surpassing $10K+ .

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Respectfully,
    Z

Dogmatique already implied/suggested what you should do first.

    Good luck.
