    Unhappy Unemployment Denial

My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: Montana

I was employed at my job for 5 years and was laid off at the end of January this year. I was also temp. employed in December of 2009 for 3 weeks working 4 hours a week until they found a permanant employee. I spoke to unemployment the other day and was told that I could be denied for trying to collect from my job that I was laid off from. I dont understand why that would have anything to do with not recieving over 2500.00 for the 3 months that I was unemployed.

Your explanation of what you were told by unemployment makes no sense, which could mean (a) they explained it badly to you, (b) you didn't fully understand what you were told, or (c) you haven't properly explained it to us. Unfortunately, we can't help you understand something unless and until we know the relevant facts.

I spoke to the lady again today because I am very upset. In the 6 week base period where they look at all seperations, the 1 job i had in December (which i worked 3 hours a week for 3 weeks) disqualifies me being able to collect unemployment from my long-term job that I was laid off from at the end of January. I asked how that was even fair!? I made $110.00 from that temp job and me not being able to recieve over $2,000.00 from my other job just seems rediculous. DOes that make more sense? She said that is the way the law is written and I cant find anything...Im going to write an appeal, but I am struggling with that also. Im a single parent too and not getting this money will hurt the both of us

All you respond at this point is, I wish to appeal this decision.

Then put together your thoughts and come back and maybe we can help. Having said that, if the law is clear on this issue, you may not prevail.
