My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Michigan. Here's the scenario. Family member with 3 children moved in to my home on a verbal agreement of staying one year under the condition that they would save their money, actively pursue looking for a new place to live, and/or enroll in school. They pay no rent nor does contribute to household expenses. I as the homeowner haven't been giving any consideration; I would consider them a houseguest and this was an act of charity. Are they considered a tenant by the law.
