Default Missing a Traffic Court Date

My question involves traffic court in the State of: Virginia

I just have a few questions regarding a traffic violation.

My friend received a ticket for unauthorized used of cross over highway couple of weeks ago.
The only problem now is that, the officer had told her that she can pay it off. However, she's in a different state now and wont be back in couple of months. She have been trying to pay online via Virginia traffic court website, but it wouldn't let her. The hearing type on her violation (online) is listed as Adjudicatory, does this mean she can't pay it off but rather must come to court to settle her case?

She already have couple of points in her history, I think about 9 points. Does this mean if she miss this court date, her license will be suspended? Can I come to her hearing and pay for the bills for her?

I just want to thank you anyone in advance. Any of these questions being answer will help greatly, and I'm sure my friend would be most appreciated also.

Default Re: Missing a Traffic Court Date

    You're talking about this:
Quote Quoting Virginia Code § 46.2-808.1. Use of crossovers on controlled access highways; penalty.
It shall be unlawful for the driver of any vehicle other than an authorized vehicle to use or attempt to use any crossover posted for authorized vehicles only on any controlled access highway.

For the purposes of this section, "authorized vehicle" means (i) Department of Transportation vehicles, (ii) law-enforcement vehicles, (iii) emergency vehicles as defined in § 46.2-920, (iv) towing and recovery vehicles operating under the direction of a law-enforcement agency, (v) vehicles for which permits authorizing use of such crossovers have been issued by the Department of Transportation, and (vi) other vehicles operating in medical emergency situations.

Violation of any provision of this section shall constitute a traffic infraction punishable by a fine of no more than $250.
That appears to be something she could have paid; if the problem is that she missed the deadline for paying her ticket, it's possible that she must now appear in court to resolve her default. She should contact the court and ask.
