    Unhappy Shoplifting Escape

My question involves criminal law for the state of: massachusetts

hey guys, i know im going to recieve a lot of hate/anger towards this as shop lifting/theft is disgraceful, my 2 friends shoplifted at the mall and i was waiting out front for them in my uncles car, a security car/cruiser from the mall was aware of there theft and followed my car as i left in a hurry with them in the backseat. the car didnt leave the mall but im sure they got my uncles cars licence number down and i totally regret this =( he's at work right now and i feel so bad. the people in the backseat threw the stuff out as they got nervous but it was a couple of sweaters. what do you think most likely will happen and this is my first time doing something like this. thanks.

I think you should call your uncle and tell him that he is going to get a very disturbing phone call.

i think instead he's gunna deny it and his alibi is he was at work then they have cam footage of the people in the store and its clearly not him so they will drop them based on the lack of evidence plus they dont have footage of the vehicle fleeting and only one person security guard saw the plate, it was really sunny and mistakes can happen

    So.

You have it all worked out.

    good luck.

When your uncle says you were driving, go to court, plead not guilty and ask for a public defender.

If you already have all the answers, why are you here?

See, the police know SOMEONE was driving that car. The cameras in the parking lot will show the car and the plate.

But, you are right. he will probably take the fall for you.

why are you so hostile lmao relaxxxx, there was no cameras in the parking lot, the car was on the far edge next to the exit the only way he could have gotten the plate was by visually seeing it because the car he was in was behind us, he wont take the fall because there is no falling hopefully, i just realized this now not when i asked

    I am not hostile.

You are now presenting facts that you haven't mentioned before. Earlier, you were waiting out front. Now you are in the far edge of the parking lot... far enough not to be seen but not so far that the security agent couldn't catch you but could still get the license plate.

    You do what you want.

Honey, not all security cameras are visible like those big black balls.

You bet that a MALL has a lot of cameras. So does the stores.

Your uncle is going to be getting a very disturbing call...or even a VISIT from the police.

Even if your Uncle can prove he was at work...his vehicle was used in a crime. He could be charged as an accomplice to you and your friends.

Either way, he is going to find out he can't trust his niece. And I highly doubt he will take the fall for you. Your crime could ruin your uncle's life, and cost him more than $2000. What a loving niece you are.
