My question involves towing laws for the State of: Texas. I had an apartment in texas, i moved out of state and signed over the title to someone and into his possesion, who lives at the apartment complex. That person did not re register and let it sit there. The apartment complex had it towed, with me not knowing. I found out it was towed months later. The towing company kept the car for three months, and racked up charges on me. I have been talking to the collection agency, and they cant seem to get there story right. They have not been able to send me an invoice or tell me where these charges came from. They sent me a paper that has the job information on my car. There is a part on there that says sale pc 2080.00 i assume thats what they sold my car for. If that is how much they sold my car for than i should not owe them anything. I told the collection agency that, and they said they sold my car for 250.00 but would not tell my anything else and would not discuss the sale pc 2080.00. My question is can they keep the car that long? can they even charge me for the expences since i signed over the title? Does that sale pc 2080.00 mean how much they sold my car for.
