Collecting Back Child Support from a Settlement

My question involves estate proceedings in the state of: CA
My child's father has been awarded a settlement that has been placed into a trust fund. The trustees are the lawyers and they give the father so much to live on. Because the lawyers feel he's uncapable of handling his money. This decision is not court ordered. What steps do I need to collect this unpaided money.

Well hold on now.

Who owns the trust? Do you know where it is located? Who is enforcing the child support order? How do you know that holding the money in trust and spoon feeding the money to dad isn't court ordered? Attorney's can't summarily make that decision on their own. If the money is his, then he's free to burn it in the front yard if that's what he wants to do.

Trust is located in CA. There is no enforced child support order because he was on SSI.
I'm only repeating what is said to me by the father. Do I have a legal right to contest the trust for unpaided child support. The father's settlement is over a million dollar.
