Default Tourist facing a shoplifting charge

my mom in law recently got caught for shoplift in Belk at GA mall, she's a tourist in US and now we bailed her out for $5600, and the court date is to be notify. my question is (1) do you know how long this process can take? (2) can the security make a mistake caught her since she didn't leave the store yet. (3) why is the bail so high, icompare to other story that i read? (4) she didn't bring any ID with her while this happen and she did not speak english at all, is this the cause that make the bond so high. (5) and after 2 weeks from the accident we still dont have any further information about the warrant paper and court date, we affraid that this could take long time since her visa stay will end soon, what should we do. (6) can she leave the country before appeared at court.

The entire process, start to finish? Probably one to three months, although that's just an estimate. A lawyer may be able to help expedite things.

She can try to defend against the charge on that basis. She is the person who would be able to tell you if it is a mistake.

They are probably concerned she'll leave the country and not return to court.

    It may have contributed.

Consider hiring a criminal defense lawyer.

Can she? Probably yes. It may violate the terms of her bond.
