Re: Fix Ticket

My question involves vehicle maintenance laws for the State of: California, Superior Court of California County of Orange.
Hello there,
last year around Thanksgiving, I was stopped by a police patrol becaseu my rear lights weren't working. I did everything that said on the tickets to be done. I went to a highway patrol, they checked and stamped the ticket and I mailed the ticket in to the Court of Orange County. Now I need to renew my drivers license, and the letter I received it said that I must pay almost $500 to be able to renew it, so I call to see what is going on, and they tell me that I never paid the $25 fee that i was supposed to pay.
I went to court and the jugde said that on the ticket was written that I was supposed to send the money with the ticket. However I never saw that in there, I read a few times and didn't noticed that. When I called to find out why I had to pay that much money the lady I spoke to said that they had sent me a letter stating that I had to pay the $25 which I never received. I told the judge and she said that it didn't metter, becaseu it was on the ticket.
I would like to know if it really is written in there that I had to pay the small fee. I just think it is an absurd they charge me almost $500 becaseu my lights weren't working, I fixed thge problem next day I found out about it, it happened becaseu of an accident I had in the freeway.
I wish I had asked the judge to see the ticket when I was in court. Becase I am pretty sure it didn't mention I had to pay it.
I am sorry this is long, but just frustrated this is happening to me.
I can only assume that your citation was issued on the typical form used for that purpose -"Notice To Appear"- which must be approved by the California Judicial Counsel.
~~ See pages 17 & 21 HERE.~~
And if that is the case, and although it does not specifically state the $25 amount, it does in fact mention a processing fee which must be paid:
CORRECTABLE VIOLATIONS: Those driver license, vehicle registration and mechanical violations cited in accordance with Vehicle Code section 40610(a) will be dismissed by the court if PROOF OF CORRECTION and payment of a transaction fee are presented to the court by mail or in person on or before the appearance date.
I am right 97% of the time... Who cares about the other 4%!
