Default Employment Application Question: Convicted of Felony

In Texas I was told by lawyers and probation officers that if a person was arrested for a felony possession and put on deferred adjudication, upon dismissal of probation period, the charge is dismissed/discharged, thus stated by law, it is not considered a conviction. Although it shows up on background checks and is supposedly not a conviction by law, what is the best way to handle the question on employment applications: Have you ever been convicted of a felony?

If you are not convicted of a crime, you can answer "no". That would include if you are not convicted because you successfully complete a deferred adjudication.
