Default Opening My Tax Mail and Copying It Without Permission

My question involves criminal law for the state of: CA

I'm a 1099 IC for a sales company in California. I came into their office today and found a 1099 Tax Letter in my box from one of our partner companies (addressed to me) that was opened, and written on the front was "scan and put in (my name) folder".

This doesn't seem right to me and I'm curious as to why they are doing this with something that personal? Is this even legal?

Edit: They do this with pretty much every piece of mail that comes in. I'm not sure if they scan everything but I do know that I've had other letters opened before I receive them personally. This was the first one that had specific instructions to make a copy of that I'm aware of.

If they open and scan every piece of mail that comes to the business, as a matter of routine, then that's what they do and you should make sure that your personal mail is directed to a different address. This was the first and only letter you've ever received at the business address in your own name? Or has this always happened?

I get mail all the time there but this is the first one they have specifically targeted to scan. Seems odd that it's my tax information. Don't I have any rights under the 1099 Independent Contractor Laws?

Under what "1099 Independent Contractor Laws"?

You clearly know they open most, if not all, mail that comes to the address. Why are you choosing to receive personal mail to that address?
