I am currently married and expecting my first child. I do not wish to give my child the father's last name for personal reasons. Am I able to give my child my maiden name?

Yes...But Dad can file to have the child's name changed...And that very likely will be granted. Unless you have a extraordinarily good reason that it would be in the child's best interest to have a name neither you or the father share.
