Can I Choose Where I Live if I'm in College at Age 17

My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: New York
Well I'm 16 and about to be 17 in February, I will be going to college when I'm 17! My question is if I am 17 can I live where I want and go to college where I want if I am accepted to a college away from where my parents live? Can I be emancipated and live with a roommate who is a adult ? I live with my dad, who is also abusive and controlling. My mother lives in a different state and is not involved in my life for 15 years now. P.S. I want to live with my bf who is a adult! please help ASAP

If you are being abused, please call CPS and/or another authority figure.

Living with a room-mate does not allow you to become emancipated; to do so you would need to have a proven history of being COMPLETELY self-supported.

If Dad says "no", you're not going to be moving anywhere else.

Additionally, the state of NY does not have any statute for the emancipation of a minor.

That means no, you cannot be emancipated.

FYI, even if you lived in a state that did permit minor emancipation, there is not a judge anywhere in the US who will emancipate a minor against the wishes of her parents so that she can go live with her boyfriend. Will not happen. Ever. Anywhere.
