Evicting Ex Girlfriend in New York

My question involves a roommate in the State of: New York

I bought a home in July 2009, I am the only person listed on and responsible for the mortgage. I allowed my now ex girlfriend and her two kids to move in with me. The ex was paying half of my mortgage and half of the bills while there, until the end of November 2009. She did not pay anything towards bills in December nor the mortgage due on 01/01/2010.
She insists that she will move out on Mar 1st, but will no longer pay me any money for mortgage or utilities.
There is no lease agreement and her name is not on my mortgage. She does
have a few utilities in her name however. I was wondering what my rights and
options were as far as removing her from my home.
Not sure if this is a simple or complex matter, but would like to begin eviction process immediately. Please advise... and thank you!

She paid what amounts to rent, then stopped. You should be able to proceed with an eviction for nonpayment. Note that if she pays, she stays, so you may want to also serve her with a general notice that her tenancy is being terminated. Read through this guide to your state's landlord-tenant law.

A friend of my sister's went through this. She hooked up with a guy. He moved into her house. He manifested his clear loserness in no time flat. He contributed nothing to the house whatsoever.

She had to go through a 6-month eviction process to get him out of her own house. During something like four of those six months she had to move out of her own house. He just stuck around until the day the city marshals/whomever came. Then he walked out the door. Probably on to his next victim.
