How to Extend a B2 Visa

Hello all

I'm in the US on a B2 visa. This visa expires on Jan 19th '10 The USCIS received my application for extension on December 15th '09.

Before applying, I did lots of research & waited until 1.5 months before my expiration date before applying. Yesterday, I found a site that says processing times for this request can take up to 2.5 months! This means that I might not hear back from the USCIS until February 9th - 3 weeks past my current visa's expiration date.

Can anyone tell me what to do? If I don't hear from them should I stay & hope my extension is approved?

I would greatly appreciate any advice given, gang. I can't find anything anywhere pertaining to my situation. Cheers!

If you 'stay and hope', you risk overstaying your visa if your extension is not approved.
