Can Apartment Complex Be Held Responsible for Car Break in

Under normal circumstances I wouldnt post this as a car break in is really nobody's fault and just bad luck. However my apartment complex does have lights around the parking lots and they are either on the ground, leaning over and have no lights. We have made the apartment complex well aware of these issues but yet they still do not have them fixed. Could we argue that there negligence in providing proper lighting around the complex could be a factor?

This recent case suggests that liability is unlikely to follow unless the premises owner was aware of an ongoing pattern of criminal activity and failed to make an appropriate response.
